Is the Collectors Club worth it? An honest answer

The Collectors Club is worth it if you collect most weeks and want the leaderboards; if you travel twice a year and claim a handful of coins, the free version already gives you the whole game.

Wouter Chömpff · Souvenirs Founder & CEO · 9 September 2026

Souvenirs is free to download and free to collect with, up to a point. The Collectors Club is the paid membership that removes that point. Here is what you get without paying, what the Club adds on top, what it costs today, and who should keep their money.

What you get without paying

The app is free on the App Store and Google Play, and collecting is free too. Our own FAQ puts the limit like this: you can claim a limited number of collectibles for free. We are not printing a number here on purpose, because the allowance lives in the app and the app is where you should read it before you decide anything.

Everything else the app does is in the free version. Fog clears from the map as you move. You earn XP for the kilometres you cover, for every new place and country you discover, for the souvenirs you claim and for the quests you finish. You climb the same thirty ranks, from Scribe to Philosopher King. You appear on the leaderboards next to your friends and the rest of the world. The How it works page walks through all six mechanics if you want the full picture.

So the free version is not a demo. It is the whole game with a ceiling on claims.

What the Club adds

Three things, and only one of them is the reason most members join.

Unlimited claims, first. No daily limits and no timers, so a day where you walk past nine collectible spots is a day you claim nine souvenirs. That is the whole pitch. If you have never hit the free ceiling, the Club is selling you something you do not need.

Double XP, second. Club members earn double XP on everything, which is the difference between climbing the ranks at a walking pace and climbing them at a run. This matters if you race friends up the leaderboard and means very little if you do not look at it.

A premium interface, third, and the promise that you keep everything you collect, forever.

What it costs

Prices are set per storefront, so the honest way to quote them is to name the store and the day we looked. On the Dutch App Store, checked on 9 September 2026, the listing shows Monthly € 7,99, Yearly € 59,99 and Lifetime Member € 99,99. On the US storefront the same day, the three read Monthly $8.99, Yearly $69.99 and Lifetime Member $99.99. Our FAQ also mentions a weekly plan; its price was not on the listing, so check it in the app. On Google Play, the store shows the current price for your country.

The arithmetic is simple. The yearly plan works out at almost exactly € 5 a month on the Dutch storefront, so it beats monthly if you keep it past eight months. Lifetime costs a bit under twenty months of the yearly plan, which is the only number that matters when you are deciding between the two.

Who should not buy it

Anyone who has not hit the free limit yet. That is the single best test there is, and it costs nothing to run: collect for a week, or for one trip, and see whether you run out.

Anyone who collects on two holidays a year. A city break is a handful of claims and the free allowance is built for exactly that shape of use. Buy a month before you fly if you want a big trip uncapped, then cancel it when you land back home.

Anyone who ignores the leaderboards and just likes watching the fog disappear. Half of what the Club adds is speed up a ranking you are not climbing.

And anyone tempted by Lifetime in week one. Lifetime is the right buy for people who already know they are still going to be collecting in two years. Nobody knows that after a weekend.

How to cancel

Billing runs through Apple or Google, never through us, so cancelling happens in the store rather than in the app.

On iPhone or iPad: open Settings, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, choose Souvenirs and then Cancel Subscription. The same list sits in the App Store app under your profile picture.

On Android: open the Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions, pick Souvenirs and cancel.

Two things worth knowing. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date, because a renewal already charged is a renewal you have to ask for back. And deleting the app does not cancel anything; the subscription keeps renewing on a phone that no longer has the app on it.

Lifetime Member is a one-off purchase, not a subscription. There is nothing renewing and nothing to cancel. If you want money back on any of these, Apple handles refunds at reportaproblem.apple.com and Google handles them through your Play Store order history.

Questions we get asked

Does the app still work without the Club? Yes. Free is free, not a trial that expires. You keep exploring, you keep your collection and you keep earning XP; the claims are what is capped.

Is there a free trial? The App Store listing we checked shows the three purchases above and no trial. If an offer is running, the app shows it at the moment you subscribe, so trust that screen over this paragraph.

What happens to my souvenirs if I cancel? The Club's promise is that you keep everything you collect, forever. If you want that confirmed for your own account before you spend anything, ask us through the support page first. We would rather answer than have you guess.

Still deciding? Get the app from the Download page, collect for a week, and let the free limit make the argument for us or against us.
