Friends, adventurers,
Something was very wrong.
Founders are supposed to pitch their business in a way that makes you WANT their stuff.
Just a few lines that contain the essence of the product - and why it scratches your itch.
We weren’t able to. The Legacy app (old name) was a bit of everything - culture and travel and social and game. So we changed it up.
Souvenirs is a mobile app for collecting digital souvenirs everywhere.
That’s the pitch now. It’s work in progress, but it’s a lot clearer than before.
We kept the icon, because we liked the icon. It has that nice physical feel to it. We might change it to the Eiffel Tower later because it is more universally recognizable as a tourist destinations. But for now we stick to the Colosseum in Rome.
We also kept the slogan Collect the World. It’s both aspirational and descriptive, and we feel it still works.

They would get confused, not knowing what the app was for or why they would bother. A LOT of users quit within the first minute after seeing the tabs, not realizing that there was a WOW waiting for them.
That’s why we cleaned up the interface.
Now it’s more clear there are tabs, and there is a focus on getting your first collectible in.

No-one liked our photo feature. Amongst all our users, only a handful users touched it, and hardly any of them regurelarly.
We were also unhappy with the quality (you could get way better shots with your regular camera app) and the speed (it could freeze up).
We are thinking of reintroducing photos - but then we will thoroughly polish it before release.
As an MVP photos was simply not working or popular.

Cards of History are awesome - but they were about history, not souvenirs. So we replaced your reward for quests with travel posters to collect.
The posters were designed by the same brilliant team member, so we’re confident you’ll enjoy them just as much.

Some users would encounter a lagging function, or loose their progress due to tracking issues.
To everyone who reported sync issues in Legacy: Thank you. Those bug reports led us down a week-long rabbit hole. iOS and Android weren't talking to each other properly. Data was getting silently corrupted. It was a challenge.
But we found the root causes. All of them.
New update coming soon - much more stable, much more reliable.

So that’s the gist! We hope you want to take Souvenirs out for a spin. Your feedback remains welcome.
Thanks for taking this journey with us.
Yours,
Wouter
